Located at 24 Coombe Road in New Malden, Chick and Beers serves as a vibrant chicken restaurant that is garnering notable attention. Customers rave about the deliciously crispy fried chicken and an impressive array of beer on tap. Bobby Shek captures the essence of a fun evening, praising the warm service from the attentive staff and delighting in the unique glazes, particularly the spicy variant.

However, reviews are mixed. Some patrons, like Milboy Rai, found certain chicken options overly salty or sweet, expressing a longing for a hotter kick in the spicy wings. Yet, David Tran sings praises of the fantastic texture and flavor of the half/half chicken, emphasizing how the soy and garlic glaze is both mouthwatering and decadent.

While the atmosphere is lively, some diners, like Cassie P, suggest that the overall quality has waned compared to authentic Korean counterparts, particularly highlighting a lack of signature pickled radish. Still, if you’re looking for a lively gathering spot with hearty fried chicken, Chick and Beers might just satisfy that craving.

Review highlights

Based on 678 reviews

Chick and Beers (Coombe Road) is widely appreciated for its flavorful Korean-style fried chicken and a solid selection of beers on tap, creating a lively and enjoyable dining atmosphere. Customers frequently praise the restaurant’s consistent taste and especially highlight the spicy options for their well-balanced heat. The variety of glazes offers an appealing range of flavors, though some find certain coatings either too salty or overly sweet. While service is generally described as friendly and helpful, dining experiences vary slightly, with some noting changes in chicken quality and crispiness compared to previous visits. Overall, it remains a popular spot for those craving quality fried chicken paired with a good beer selection in a casual setting.

Had such a fun evening here. If you’ve got a craving for amazing fried chicken, great selection of appropriate sides, and a good variety of beers on tap : Come here! Period. Many thanks to the two happy and friendly ladies who looked after us… they couldn’t have been more helpful… even when we had no idea which of the delicious glazes we were eating on our chicken! (Go for the spicy!)

Lively atmosphere however the chicken wasn't to my preference. Some were too salty and others rather sweet with flavours tasting a little too similar between selections. Spicy wings were also not that spicy, although your mileage may vary. A good spot to try out but I wouldn't call it the best Korean fried chicken I've had.

Once you have eaten these fried chicken, you will forever know what the 'K' stands for in 'KFC'! Fantastic, crispy half/half, or chicken wings, goes down so well with the Coleslaw. The glaze is full of promise, with soy and garlic, is mouth watering

Food: for a restaurant which only do chicken and beer, as their main trademark, it's extremely important that they do these things well. In this case, they do it really well and the fried chicken is not only consistent but also really tasty. The highlight of these was the really hot chicken which had a nice building up spice to it which help whet out appetite! Service: It's okay. The waiters were helpful when we needed them to be. Atmosphere: we weren't able to sit inside but sitting outside while a little cold, we got to see other diners enjoy themselves.

I've ordered takeaway from Chicks and Beers many times before but this was my first time dining in. I have recently been to South Korea and I can say the fried chicken is comparable but not better than South Korea. The flavour is good however the quality of the chicken is not as good as it used to be and not as crispy. They also used to include the pickled radish but now charge £1 for a small pot. The pickled radish in South Korea is tastier. I would come here again and this used to be my go to but I am inclined to try other Korean fried chicken places as the price has also increased since they do not do NHS discounts anymore either.

Best Korean fried chicken I've tasted so far in the UK - juicy and flavourful. Ordered the spam fries (not pictured) but nothing special. The chicken strips were on the dry side. I would stick to the whole chicken next time

* It's a Korean fried chicken restaurant. * "the best place in London for Chicken" and praises the "crispy always delicious and always hot" chicken. * amazing staff that were so attentive" and that "Food came out quick and was amazing." * Biscoff Latte as a unique and delicious item. * The restaurant has a limited but focused menu. Highly recommended A++++

Four of us visited Chick and Beers and it was easily the best Korean fried chicken I’ve ever had. We ordered half honey garlic soy chicken, half spicy chicken, Korean buffalo fried wings, Cajun sprinkle wings, and pickled radish. The fried chicken was phenomenal—perfectly seasoned, ultra-crispy, and incredibly juicy. Our favourite was the honey garlic soy glaze, which was savory and perfectly balanced with sweetness. The Cajun sprinkle was a dry rub rather than a glaze, and it was a big hit as well. The spicy glaze could have packed more heat but was still flavourful. The Korean buffalo glaze was the perfect mix of spicy and tangy. The pickled radish was refreshing and a great way to cleanse the palate. We also loved the Welch’s grape drink that was perfect with the meal. Service was excellent—a staff member patiently answered our questions and gave great recommendations. The restaurant was very clean and our final bill was very reasonable. I’d highly recommend Chick and Beers!
